Afrocentered Studies is an organization dedicated to the review and analysis of pre-colonial, pre-slavery African history. We started based on what we identified to be a misrepresentation and undermining of Africa’s contribution to world history in literature, the current school syllabus as well as popular media.
It is our belief that much of the negative portrayals of black people and their resulting self-hatred is inextricably linked to this misrepresentation of history. Our mission and obligation is to correct this portrayal through constant discussion, engagement and dissemination of information.
